Business & Safety Advice From A Truck Driver

Friday, August 6th, 2010

Michael Youmans is a driver that knows how to work.  Now a proud truck owner, he knows the ins and outs of the trucking business.  At 61 years old he has been with CR England for almost two years.  As a driver he feels that speed is the most important factor in driving.  He says that people can’t assume that drivers have “magic airbreaks”  and that they can stop when ever they want.  All drivers on the road need to realize that trucks don’t stop as fast as other vehicles.  At the same time he cautions other truck drivers to slow down.  He says that is the most important advice to remember.  When you are driving too fast, speed becomes your worst enemy.  Each driver needs to adjust their speed for their specific conditions and skill level. Proper training always starts in truck driving school.

He also stresses getting enough sleep while on the road.  He advises that any amount of fatigue can have an effect on your reaction time.  Not only does he give great advice but he also sets an example of what a responsible driver should do.  Michael wakes up around two or three in the morning and stays alert and ready while driving throughout the day.  He works hard everyday he is at work so that he can relax on his time off knowing that he did his best.  Along with his latest accomplishment of purchasing his truck he is also looking forward to the birth of his first grandchild.  When he is home in Tampa, Florida he loves to ride his motorcycle.  He owns a Yamaha Stratoliner and lives for the freedom and exhilaration that he gets when he rides it.

He says he cant live with out his GPS, refrigerator, or microwave.  They are his must-have appliances.  When asked about how he achieved his success he said that he just floated along, he ran a lot of payments and always kept his balance current.  Just another story to show that success in reach for anyone that is willing to work hard.

Trucking Industry Wants Drivers

Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010

Portland News had an article about the income that can be made through driving a truck and quoting $40,000 yearly right off the bat.  With the diverse workforce looking for jobs, changing careers is an option for many people.

Take Kelly Lovering (age 27) of Portsmouth, OR.  She was quoted as saying, “I used to work for the Department of Corrections. I got laid-off in January, so I searched for six months to find a job and couldn’t find anything. So, I was like, ‘Well, I’ll do something different.’ So, I decided to come take lessons and learn to drive a truck,” she said.  At the time of the article, Kelly was half way through her course.  With truck driving almost recession-proof, she felt she had a lot to look forward to.

The article grabbed my attention because it brings up the matter of people being aware of opportunity in the trucking field.  Not everyone realizes that with a few months of classes, a career is created in a recession proof field.  Trucking is part of transportation, which is needed to keep the economy moving.  (Literally.)  The money is good and the job is stable.  Something many people are looking for now days.

There are trucking jobs available in companies like CR England with $85,000 income for even training positions.  Truck Driving Schools enrolment has gone up during this recession and the better quality the driver, the higher demand for that candidate.  Truck Driving Jobs are available in this economy when other jobs are not.  In fact, CR England guarantees a job for every student.

Truck Driving Classes Available

Thursday, April 15th, 2010

A major trucking company is looking for people who want to become a truck driver to go to school, then for them.  CR England has a driving school and they are inviting candidates to apply.  Once certified, the drivers are automatically employed with CR England.

This refrigerated carrier is the biggest in the US and is over 90 years old.  Their school trains their drivers in the most updated rigs that you would be driving as an employee.  In fact, they are never older than three years.  They have three schools to choose from across the country.  One in Indiana, One in Utah, and one in Southern California.  All three schools use the same “best in the industry “ curriculum for you to use as a driver.  Since you would be driving for their company, their classroom and over the road training, guarantees that the driver is completely ready to safely drive.

For the applicants, they receive transportation and living quarters during the duration of the courses.  Students only have to pay for their meals while at the school and they have a restaurant just below the hotel.

The course is only 17 days and then you are a certified truck driver.  Then you get the on-the-road training with a top of the line trainer for 90 days, and at that point you start to get paid.  After that, you are a full CE England Driver with a career on its way.

If you are interested, call them at 1-800-421-9004 or go to http://crengland.com/truckdrivingschools/index.jsp and apply online

Trucking Jobs In January Christmas AdIf you were unable to find work before the end of 2009 we may have a position for you. CR England is looking for individuals that want to start a new career in the trucking industry. With or without experience CR England has trucking jobs to fill and also has training options available through their truck driving school. Finding a new career at the start of the New Year could make it feel like Christmas in January.

There is no doubt that the holiday season this year has been a much-needed break for many people. The only bad news is that after the gifts have been opened and the Christmas lights go out, it’s time to go back to work. If you’re out of work, your probably returning to the job hunt so the New Year may not be so exciting.

If trucking jobs sound interesting, maybe we have an exciting option for you.

Premier Truck Driving Schools offer industry-leading training to those who meet the CR England hiring criteria. If you have been waiting in unemployment lines or searching online for a job at this point your probably exhausted. Many employers have reported receiving hundreds of applications for a single position so you there is plenty of competition for work. That alone is certainly making the job search tiresome. CR England on the other hand is looking to fill numerous driving positions. With no experience you can attend a company owned truck driving school and be headed towards a great trucking jobs opportunity.

If you think a career in the trucking industry might be something that you would enjoy we have great news; filling out an application with CR England may be the last application you fill out this year and next. “Christmas in January” is just a few days away. Get there by visiting our company website at www.CREngland.com .

The Trucking Jobs Report Numbers

Tuesday, August 11th, 2009

eTrucker Staff posted an article on Friday that went over the most recent trucker jobs numbers. Here are the most recent numbers from the report.

-6,800 trucking jobs lost in July.
that brings the trucking industry total up to 77,700 jobs in 2009 and 128,100 since the overall economic decline began in late 2008.

One thing worth mentioning that other articles have failed to point out is the fact that these numbers do not include truck drivers that work for private fleets. Most certainly the little guys are feeling the pain of the economy. The job loss numbers therefore could be treated as a minimum number rather than the total number.

The trucking industry as whole is now down a MINIMUM of 13.2 percent. (if we go by the statement we made a few moments ago). Truck driving jobs peaked in January 2007 and employed almost 1.5 million. Certainly a drop of 13.2 is a big number but all the buzz about an economic recovery should make it so the number does not grow too substantially.

Many media outlets have recently run articles about how those laid off across the country have filled many truck driving schools. With so many people getting CDL training it may be easier for trucking companies to find  new employees once the economy turns around.

The positive thing to take away here is the slowing of the job losses. The article also mentioned that previous months numbers have been revised showing employment levels were slighty higher than previously reported.
