When starting your truck driving career and deciding which truck driving school to go to, there are certain aspects you may want to consider. Some trucking schools are better than others, and there are different types of schools. There are privately owned schools which are usually not associated with any certain company, and there are company owned schools. So which school is a better choice for you?

With most company owned schools you are offered a job right after successful completion of your term at school. With privately owned schools you need to look for a job after you graduate, which can take time. Many offer job placement to speed up the process. One of the biggest problems graduates from privately owned schools run into is a lack of experience upon graduation. With a company owned school, you don’t have to worry about this, because you are offered a job when you finish.

Many company owned schools also have immediate freight available for drivers that have completed training. This will help get you started with your new career immediately, without having to wait long periods of down time where you are not making money. Most large trucking companies that offer their own schools also have partnerships with well-known brand names to provide job security.

Another great benefit of attending a company owned school is that the training is provided with the school. After attending a privately owned school and signing on with a trucking company as a driver, you are often times required to go through an orientation to learn the company rules. However, when attending a company owned school the training is already there. Many companies have different phases of their school, which include different periods of training. Through this option, you will already know the rules specific to that company, which will shorten your time in training and lengthen your time making money.

There is a lot to be said about attending a company owned school when starting your truck driving job. To learn more about going to a company owned truck driving school and the benefits that some along with it, visit our website at www.CREngland.com.

CR England’s truck driving school has an end of year promotion that is unreal! For those people newly graduated truck drivers that do not have a job yet, CR England’s truck driving school is waving school refresher fees. C.R. England Inc. is accepting students for their School Refresher course, (also called Advanced Training Program, ATP.)

In parts of the country, unemployment is in double digits and men and women are going to truck driving schools because they know there is job stability to feed their families. Unfortunately, many of these schools are not connected to trucking companies, so there is no job at the end of the schooling. C.R England, Inc. has a school opened up to many type of candidates with different needs. If a driver wants to drive for C.R. England, has their CDL Class A license, but has not had the on the road experience yet, they have a program set up for just them.

It’s a 17-day course to prepare the new driver for C.R. England Inc.’s procedures and policies, as well as a safety guideline to help the driver in real world situations. Once the drivers complete this course, they are hired by CR England , placed with a certified trainer for 30 days in which they are paid. For 60 days, the driver is a second seat and the pay goes up.

Then, the driver chooses his career path. He or she can be a solo driver, a team driver, a relief driver, over the road warrior, or even be an independent contractor. The choice is up to the driver.

If your fresh out of truck driving school and are having a hard time finding a job, here is a low cost option just for you.

Truck driving school seems to be the hot education training right now. Mark Carlson of the Herald staff in heraldnet.com wrote an article called “10 forward gears” in which he talks about the popularity of truck driving schools right now.

Mark’s thoughts were interesting in that he feels that the truck driving schools are well liked right now due to the starting pay of $40,000.

Another article, named “Trucking Payrolls Steady as Unemployment rate Holds at 9.6%” in the Transport Topics Newsletter, talks about how the unemployment is still up and is 9.6% here in the United States while truck driving jobs are always available. In fact, to quote the Transport Topics Newsletter, “Transportation and warehousing employment rose by 9,600, led by gains in transit, couriers and messengers, and warehousing and storage employees.”

With so many people out of work and for so long, people are starting to view new careers where there is stability for their livelihood and to care for their families.

Truck driving jobs are not hurt by the economy because people still need to eat, even when times are hard. Plus, products still need to move from point A to point B and trucks are an inexpensive way to move the shipments.

There are hundreds of truck driving school classes being taught all across the country. The best schools are those that guarantee a job when finished. Once accepted into the schools, the graduates have a paycheck for the company that trained them. Another good reason to go to a school that gives you a job is that they will train you well, wanting good drivers to drive for them.

If you are looking into driving for a living, look into the bigger trucking companies that have schools attached.

I found this really sad article about the construction industry and loss of jobs in the last couple of years. Many of those who have bee laid off from this field realize that it will be years until the door opens up again for all those laid off. They are turning to other jobs and one caught my eye. Truck driving.

The article “Unemployed Flocking To Truck Driving Courses” is about how the Truck Driving Schools are seeing a higher enrollment since the beginning of 2009.

“The sluggish economy is causing record numbers of laid-off workers to switch to careers in truck driving, and training programs are booming as a result.

“Trucking is a huge part of the economy,” explained Mary Beth McCollum, program coordinator for the commercial truck driver training class at the College of Southern Maryland. “Every good that’s in every store was transported here by a truck driver,” she told Boston’s Fox 5.

CSM’s truck driving program has seen a 13 percent rise in enrollment since last year, and the school noted that 80 percent of its students maintain long-term truck driving careers. After the course, students are required to pass a Commercial Drivers License exam.

Reginald Wright, who recently graduated from the course, turned to truck driving after losing his job at a boat manufacturing company. “I’m excited about that,” he said, “that I have the opportunity to advance my career, and make some good money.”

Similarly, WBOC in Maryland reports that enrollment in truck driving courses has increased at Wor-Wic Community College. Frank Marshall, a truck driving instructor, noted that many students are attracted to the steady pay, job security and benefits that truck drivers often receive.

“What I’ve seen is an increase in students, but also a change in the age,” said Lee Ann Shull, who is part of the school’s career development program. “We’re seeing a lot of older students coming into the program. I’m thinking it might be due to a lot of company closings.”

The Waco Herald-Tribune in Texas reports that enrollment at the Sage Truck Driving School in Salt Lake City has also seen tremendous growth this year. Some of the students have included pilots and people with MBAs.

“You can have a whole new career after four weeks of training,” explained Guy Horn, who operates the school. “If you have a good driving record and get your commercial driver’s license, you can go right to work.”

He noted that new drivers can make more than $30,000 a year, while those with two years’ experience may make $50,000 or more “if they’re out there running hard.”

Josh Sherman, 26, signed up for classes at ATDS Truck Driving School in Elm Mott after working as an aviation mechanic. “I’ll start out at $30,000 to $40,000, which is more than I was making,” he said, and added that he has already been offered a job hauling sand and gravel.

Others point out that the larger commercial truck driving companies are now more open to allowing employees more time at home on weekends. “That’s one thing that’s been addressed. . .” said Marshall, who was quoted by WBOC, “ensuring the drivers do get their home time.”

CR England Truck Driving School is a great place to go because it is one of the best in the country. They pay for your transportation to one of their three schools and pay for your hotel. You only pay for your meals. You can check them out and apply on line at http://crengland.com/truckdrivingschools/index.jsp.
